The club held its April monthly meeting on Monday April 7, 2025 at Fundemonium in Rohnert Park. We had a great turnout with 21 members and guests attending. We welcomed several new folks, and were very pleased to give a warm welcome back to several former members we hadn’t seen for awhile. So glad the word is getting out about the club’s positive energy, fun atmosphere and direction. President Dean Wallace started the meeting by:
- Reminding folks that the deadline for the current group build/contest is the club meeting in June. The theme is “Wings.” Gift cards will be awarded to the most outstanding models.
- Reporting that the next local model show is the Silver Wings Silver Con show on Saturday May 17, 2025 in Sacramento. The show theme is the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Car pools will be arranged at the May club meeting for those that are interested.
- Reporting that the Kublacon Prime show will be held on Memorial Day weekend May 25-27, 2025 in Burlingame. For those looking to up their figure painting game, there will a number of great seminars given, including several taught by our own Dev Sodagar. - For those willing to travel, there is also the “Best of the West show hosted by IPMS Las Vegas club being held on May 24, 2025 in Las Vegas, and the AMPS Nationals being held this year at Camp Hill, Pennsylvania on May 15-17, 2025.
We then listened to a presentation by James Morando on airbrush cleaning, which was well received,and led to a discussion about various issues relating to airbrush maintenance.
We had a fantastic Show and Tell session with high participation. Once again, some great work was shown off by our club members. A highlight was Jack Riggar’s slide presentation about the building of his incredible Russian truck diorama. During the show and tell, we continued our practice of having each member speak to the topic question of the night. The topic for this meeting was “What’s your plan for improving/getting better at modeling?” which initiated some great comments and responses.
Our meeting culminated with many members joining for post-meeting food and libations at nearby Applebee’s. A fun time and great opportunity for some in-depth modeling discussion with club friends. Next meeting will be held starting at 6:30 pm on Monday May 5, 2025 at Fundemonium in Rohnert Park.
